[xj] Any good Jag mechanics in Raleigh-Durham, NC area?

Hello all and Happy New Year! Im ready to take my car to a mechanic
and just have him look over the car and tell me exactly whats wrong
with it due to the fact Im still having the issue w/the car taking
15min to warm-up in cold/warm weather and stalling when I come to a
stop.

Can anyone refer any good reputable mechanics in this area or
anywhere in North Carolina for that matter as long as they’re
knowledgeable on Jags?

Thanks in Advance

Try Flying Circus Cars in Durham, NC. They work on all English cars.–

Sheesh I hope you can find a good mechanic…most are retired in
this area. And now the run of the mill breaker yards are filling up
with the Series III cars. Sad. Coventry West is even turning them
away…

The sad fact is that unless your mechanic works on them regularly,
his ‘‘slow speed’’ ie long learning curve is going to make his labor
rates prohibitive.

Which is really why this list exists at all.–

Ted, methinks you’re giving the wrong impression about CW. Since we sold our
repair shop operation, we no longer do service and repair work on ANY cars,
SIII or otherwise. I admit we do have a few long-term customers (20+ years,
not newbies like you!) who we will infrequently help out.

Our main problem is that we no longer have any Jag mechanics in our employ.
Dick Maury, our rebuild guy, is the only knowledgeable wrench here and his
primary responsibilities preclude him doing much outside of the rebuild
department.

Best regards,

Sorry. 'Didn’t mean to imply that you were turning away repair
work.

Only that you were turning away from SIII’s. And everyone here
should understand why CW is migrating mostly to XJ40’s/ X300’s etc
etc.–

Ted,

The only segment of our business where we’re moving away from the earlier
cars is in the salvage department. Most of our sales volume in salvage parts
goes to body and repair shops working on fairly late-model cars, so we’ve
slowed way down on buying SIII salvage, simply because of slackening demand. On the new parts side, we’re stocking as much for SIIIs as we ever have. And we have no plans to change that situation. Do keep in mind that well over 3/4 of our business is to the wholesale repair trade and thus we see more demand for parts for later cars. You are correct that we are adding more inventory for the XJ40s, X300s, etc., but we’re really not “turning away” from SIIIs except on the salvage side. Just what SIII parts have you needed that we couldn’t supply? :sunglasses: Best regards, Gregory Wells 800-331-2193 x103 Coventry West, Inc. Not to mention that it’s probably a rare salvage SIII that has much in the way of resellable parts, at least for an operation with any overhead.===================================================
