[xj] Anybody ever lumped a Chevy?

One of these cars was built for Paul Newman and he drove it for many years. It was made
by www.ipd.com He delighted in blowing everyone on the road away by a stately looking
car with a smiling fool driving it.

Years before the factory did it with production cars, I fitted a turbocharger that I found
around the airport to my 1978 242GT Volvo. A real “sleeper” as everyone just knew that
Volvo’s did not have any power and that the GT version “just looked quicker” than the other
models.

Well, this one would go 140 mph in a heartbeat if needed but was docile enough that I let
Mom drive it when her car needed maintenance. Would outrun corvette’s off of the line and
after some new springs and shocks could corner with them as well.

If you do a search on “volvo v-8” you will find a lot of information on this modification. Its
been going on for 30 years or so.

A bit of an aside. When I went to college, this guy had
some sort of Volvo sedan, forget what type, but a rather
modest one. Apparently he and his dad dropped a small block
V8 Chevy motor in it, forgive my ignorance if I don’t know
the specs on that one.

Point is, it looked the same from the outside, but he had
fun blowing other cars off the road

Hm, Dave…how was that song again. “…for I’m the local sheriff in my
unmarked car…”…

I must be growing up, and driving a Jaguar I have nothing more to
prove. Besides, my dad is bigger than yours, so there…
