[xj] Anyone from FL?!?!?!?

Hi Steve… I am in Orlando and there are a few of us in the Orlando area that
are on the list, but we have not met officially. Anyway, there always seems
to be an SIII for sale around here…Generally, you can find them in the
paper. If you log on to the web, you can access the Orlando Sentinel newspaper
and check the classifieds. Here is a link
Orlando Sentinel Once you get
there, you will have to have to find the classifieds…Good luck. I have seen
one SIII for sale but would not recommend it since it would need a whole lot
of work–exterior/interior. I don’t know how it runs. Let me know if I can
help you in any way…

Hi all,

Somewhat of a tangent, not really though.

Anyways, soon enough my family and I will be taking our annual trip to
FL.
I was wondering, does anybody on this list live in FL?
I’m asking because my father wants to buy me my Series 3 down in FL
because that way the Jag won’t have all the road salt/rust etc. that the
Series 3 up here would have on them. He wants to get me a Jag that
doesn’t have all the rust, etc. that the road salt from the bloody snow
plows deposit year after year on CT’s roads.
Does anybody know of any good Series 3 dealerships, etc. that are in
FL. If anybody does, please email me.

Thanx

Hi Steve-

We live in St. Marys GA. One hour north of Jacksonville. There is a 1986
XJ6 for sale at the local car lot for $6,000. No rust-grey w/maroon
interior-sweet looking vehicle! It is sitting right off the exit I-95. It
is well worth looking at if you are coming down 95.

Good luck-

$teve,

There are quite a few SIII’s on the road down here. I’m east of
Orlando, on the Space Coast, just south of Kennedy Space Center and
Cape Canaveral. Down here, we rust from the top down, instead of the
bottom up. There isn’t any road salt, just salty ocean air. When you
look around down here, check the usual places, and pay particular
attention to chrome, window seals, door jambs (sunroof and cowl
drains), etc… There is so much humidity, that the A/C drains really
flow and frequently clog if not cleared regularly. When that happens,
the floor boards can rust from the overflow inside.

Good hunting. I just passed up a beautiful dark grey SIII with a
blown transmission at 120K miles. The owner is a friend of my
neighbor. Wanted $2000 (frustrated with the failure, and knows
nothing about Jags). He owns a body/paint shop, so the car’s
appearance had been regally maintained. It appeared to run well, but
I’m not sure of the mechanicals. I’ll check and see if he still has
it, and of its condition, if you want. Last I heard, he had driven it
home in second gear and parked it. It might be a good candidate for a
TH350… (no flames from the anti-lump crowd - I share your purist
views)

Let me know when you’re in the area and I’ll see if the Jag Club of
Florida (Orlando) is doing anything.

You are right about the sun, Michael. Mine is tough to spot as when the
sun’s out, the cover’s on.

Re: your recent trips. I must believe you are familiar with Auto Trader.
I can’t honestly say I’ve never seen an issue without an SIII XJ6, but if
I have, I can’t remember when. Moreover, there is almost always
something in the Arizona Republic classified.

Listed in Auto Trader 2/15. Haven’t seen; haven’t interest.
