[xj] Auto trans BW66 lubricant

“Jean G. Catford” <@Jean-Guy_Catford>

Hi,
According to my Jag handbook, I should use auto. trans. fluid type
G (M2C33G) and in America I do not know the equivalent, may be it is an
obvios question, but the transm. need 1 Qt. What is the type F or Mercon.
Many thanks,

Jean, I believe type F is aimed at Ford and Borg Warner trans, while
Dextron is for GM. The dipstick should indicate the trans type, if
original – 65 or 66 for BW units. Others will know more.–

Jean,
I recently changed to Valvoline ATF Type FA, because it meets that spec.
Go to www.valvoline.com for additional info.

After doing research, I did this as well. It seems to make the BW66 happy.===================================================

Jean,

The generally accepted substitute is Type F or Type FA. Some guys use Dexron
for a slightly smoother shift.

I’ve used type F in mine for the last 10 years.
