[xj] BEEPING, JAGUAR 78 XJ6 ser.2

Suddenly have a beeping sound (beep beep beep, again
beep beep beep) coming from the center console area.

After about 15 minutes the beep gets weaker before it
shuts off.

Never had it before.
Appreciate any help
on this subject.

I’m aware of only two audio alerts in my '75 XJ6C, Series II
but are best described as buzzing, not beeps.
1.) Key in ignition, door open, constant.

2.) Ignition turned on, seat belt not buckled, fades out
after 4-5 seconds. Resets when ignition shut off.

Could there be a different alert sound for the '78 that
mysteriously began to work? My father had jammed a wood
toothpick in the driver’s door switches to keep them off.
One eventually worked loose and began to sound again.

Today I read that the final 96 coupes produced in Nov. of
1977 were badged 1978s. Is yours a coupe ?–

Bill!
The beeping stays for about 15 minutes or so,then shuts off.

Does not beep every time I drive.

Belts are always buckled.

Does not shut off with engine off and key out.

Doors always closed.

Its a 78 xj6 ser.2 4 door.

No cell phone.
