[xj] Capacitor Mod/Alex

Alex:

I did the capacitor mod today on my S3 and could not see any improvement. I
used a 100uF 35WVDC, strapping leads 3(tan/green) and 5(tan/yellow). This is
the value recommended by Coventry West. I was careful to insure correct
polarity. Have I done anything incorrectly or perhaps my car did not need
this modification? Any assistance is appreciated.

Larry,
AFAIK, the purpose of this mod was not to make a general improvement in the
way your car runs but rather to solve the specific problem of “double
fueling” which crops up on some cars.

This problem manifests itself by over rich mixture, black smoke, and rough
running, especially on a cold start and usually intermittent in nature.

Were you having these symptoms ?
