[xj] Caulfield A/C amplfier Question and Cruise contro switch

Hi gang, I hope someone can help me with my Caulfield A/C amplifier
question. I have disconnected the old original A/C amplifier and
now I am trying to connect the new Caulfield amp. The plastic
connecters don’t seem to want to slide all the way together. I
have pushed and pushed very hard and one side wont push all the way
together. Any suggestions? Also where do I connect the red power
wire with the fuse in it to? Please help. Also I have a Caulfield
cruise control aftermarket brake switch. It has four connectors
versus two like the original jag one. Which connecters do I use to
hook up the two yellow and white striped wires to?

Please Help.–

JR – just had a look at mine; maybe i can help… firstly, look to see if
the pins are straight, and not slightly bent. Look also that the alignment
is correct. There is only one way it can go in, there’s a notch and a
slider, for want of a better word, and they have to mate correctly. It may
also be that theres just a manufacuring difference in it. If pins are
straight, or bent slightly if they need it, and the notch/slider lines is,
then just gentely jiggle it in till it stops, then with a good light and
maybe a magnifying glass, carefully examine it, and see if there’s a
not-so-obvious notch, bump holding it up.

Now, the red power wire has got me. Mine didn’t have a power wire, but an
earth wire. does it have a terminator on it, suitable for grounding? I’ll
pop back out and re examine mine for a red power wire; i don’t remember it
at installation, and wasn’t looking this time… I’ll follow up in a
second… back… nope, no red wire… my black wire comes out of the top,
has a fuse holder in it, and a bare wire. I took this to be a grounding
wire, and grounded it using one of the m-t screws on the housing… my power
wire(s) are part of the bundle. this’s probably what yours is.

Leaving only the fit issues. I didn’t pull mine apart, but i looked
carefully at it… there appears to be 2 ways it can go together, given the
little slider snap things. I’d do as i mentioned above, just jiggle
together till it stops, and look for the catch. you may want to spring the
two plastic catches apart a little with a screw driver and see if that
helps…

can’t help on the c-c unit…
