I have posted several questions in the last month pertaining
to Jaguar rear ends and upgrading to a locking differential.
Even though I kept mentioning a Dana 44 the prevailing
thought was to get a Salisbury locking carrier. I found out
that a used Salisbury carrier is about $500.00 and I kept
finding tidbits of info about putting a Dana 44 carrier in
the Salisbury case, but no clear cut information. After
MUCH research I found the info I needed and am now sharing
it.
to use a Dana 44 carrier in an Salisbury you need to
drill out the ring gear holes on the carrier from 3/8 to
7/16 to match the Salisbury ring gear bolts
Dana 44 carrier bearings are needed
Bearing 25590 Race 25523
Jaguar pinion bearings and seals are needed
M88043 bearing M88010 race
Hm89446 bearing Hm89410 race
29292 pinion seal
and then all other basick rebuild parts can be gotten from a
basic Jaguar/Salisbury install kit such as jag/mkit from
Rider racing
Any way long story short I was able to get a NEW Aubern gear
locking carrier and all the other parts mentoned above for
$435.00 including the shipping which is way better than the
used Salisbury carrier for $500.00 by it self. After it has
been rebuilt I will make a web page detailing my findings.
Just thought I would share the info I have with any one who
is interested.– www.dazecars.com

In reply to a message from cadjag sent Thu 8 Mar 2007:
I have actually been to that site, however his page pertains
to using a Dana 44 ring and pinion gear with the Dana 44
carrier and I wanted to use my original ring and pinion so the
info is similar, but not the same.–
