Hello,
I know the XJS converted to a differential driven speedo, but what
about the SIII XJ12?
Thanks

No, it stayed with the transducer on the transmission until the end of
Series 3 production in 1992.

Although you give not dates, I will assume that you are referring to the
later V12 Series III cars (after 1982; these are not “xj12”, but V12
Sovereign, Daimler Double Six or V12 Vanden Plas - the distinction is
important because along with the change in name and trim level, there
were other significant changes -including a change to an electronic
speedometer rather than mechanical, and a change from a differential
mounted cruise control sender to a shared signal to the cruise control,
trip computer and speedometer - all from a transducer mounted on the
transmission, not the differential.

Julian: the “xj12” name was revived for the 1994 model (the xj40 body
style with the V12), but not for the late Series III cars.
