Help!
We are leaving for a 3 day trip tomorrow and the driver’s door won’t
unlock. The inside lever seems to be jammed. The outside lock unlocks
the other three doors as it should. I can’t even get the driver’s door
open. Any hints? So far I haven’t told SWMBO that I will have to get in
and out through the window which is very ungraceful in a Jag.
Thanks,
Henry=====

Henry,
I had a similar incident a few weeks ago. The door on my XJC would NOT
open. The handles and locks worked great but it wouldn’t unlatch. The
problem was the nylon latch mechanism that is bolted to the back of the door
broke and would not let the catch mechanism swivel all the way in an open
position. Sad to say, I about had to tear the interior panel off while the
door was shut to find this out. I finally had to simply kick the door open.
Hey, it always worked on the old Studebaker!
I have heard of the actuating rods binding. I would check that first and
then again before you kick the door open.
