I am new to Jaguar ownership, I was given a 1986 XJ6 and it will
not start. I have good clean gas and the engin will turn over. No
spark is my current problem. When I test the coil no pulse light or
constant light yet when I attach the test light to the negative
post on the battery and then test both sides of the coil I get a
strong constant light. Any help would be greatly appreciated.–

Welcome stinky, smelly, or whatever – we need a real name here!
Does the light flicker when you run it from + batt to - coil and crank?–

In reply to a message from Cannara sent Sat 12 Aug 2006:
Sorry about the name thing, No flicker from the test light when
connected to the pos post of the battery then to the coil when
cranking
