just not in the Schneider race! Read about the V24’s coolant & oil radiators

That’s one thing we haven’t seen proposed on the list yet, Alex - a
usefull extra radiator for the xk…

And, of course; the Macchi’s were easy meat for the Supermarine’s
derivative - though that version looks very like the ultimate Trophy
winner…:-))

John. Remember that England was still trying to recover from the
financial burden and devastation caused them during WWII.–

In reply to a message from Peddlarbob sent Thu 22 Nov 2007:

And if memory serves me correctly earlier this year we finally paid
off our debt to the US for the dosh we had to borrow during those
dark times.

Steam powered trains were starting to be replaced here in the
late sixties, say what you like about them but they were
magnificant beasts. I think the fifties were the finest years to be
born in, if you disregard the very real threat of M.A.D.
We could play football in the streets without fear of being mown
down by a car, England won the football world cup, watched the
first man walk on the moon, saw Concord on it’s test flights as
well as regular flights of the Lancaster bomber, Elvis, Beatles,
E type Jags…
I wonder sometimes if the enthusiasm for the early XJ is in some
small way a nostalgic return to a period when things were a little
more refined, relaxed, and pehaps a little more gentlemanly.
