Hello Chaps,
What else was changed when the ECU was swapped out?? The
connector/connection. Any/all auto electrical connection older than
10yrs is a very likely source of trouble. Especially if it has been in
any place like an engine compartment. And any electrical thingy that is
intermittent is very likely to be caused by the connection. Witness the
Jag power window switches. The ECU was in the trunk protected but I
wouldn’t be surprised if putting it back in it would work fine.

Yes. In fact I always work a connection, plug and unplug
several times at least and look for fresh wear on the male
connectors before making it permanent.
