-Wound up tearing down both wishbones (at the inner fulcrum bracket)
and I am glad that I did. Both sides needed shims replaced…(What
were they (Jag) thinking when they designed this???) This now makes
100% of the IRS’s I’ve torn into that needed some attention here.
-The IRS is back in the car. Only one snag - one of the crossover
brakes lines on the new rh caliper was loose - my bad! as I should
have checked it before I put it back up in the car. But
nonetheless - I was able to fish a wrench up in there and tighten
it down.
-INterestingly, initially, the camber on the rh side did not
seem ‘‘just right’’ by my crude measurements. However I drove it
about 30 minutes - let it sit overnight - and I’ll be damned if it
wasn’t very close to perfect the next day. ??? Things settle, under
that much weight, over time, I guess…
-The diff is quiet!!! My elixir worked! (Redline combo of 75W90 GL5
and 2 oz of their breakin package for limited slip diffs) Remember
my heart attack when I pulled the drain plug and nothing came out -
until I broke the ‘‘cake’’ loose on the inside of the diff? The stars
are starting to line up!
-My son is off to the alignment shop for front-end alignment work
now…and double checking the rear. Fingers crossed!–
