[xj] K&N Air Filters?

Does anyone recommend or has anyone had experience with the K&N Air Filter
line. My FI 85XJ6 was wondering if there would be any benefits, or pitfalls,
installing a high-flow air filter. Also, I was wondering if these kits
include an attachment for the blowby gas hose ??

Any thoughts ??

Thanks

JON,
I installed a K&N filter (stock number E-2350) on mine 87 XJ6 just for s**ts
and giggles. It is a direct replacement and goes into the original filter
housing just fine, no attachments, etc. Result ? Essentially, nil. Yes, at
3/4 throttle or more there is some improvement but nothing earth shattering.
However, this is just replacing the filter element and not installing a
revamped “cold air system”.

There’s been some recent list discussion on air intake systems and quite a
bit of info in the archives. I am waiting on info from AJ6 engineering —
they have an intake system.

I’m not an engineer or anything but common sense would dictate that most
benefit from increased air intake would only be felt at wider throttle
openings – not the way most of us drive, perhaps, but useful in passing
situations, I suppose. Personally, anything to literally breathe some more
power into my Jag is a welcome idea, providing resultant noise increase is
minimal.
