Hi all
I would like to know the part number/model of K&N’s to fit triple
SU’s. The web site is unclear, and local parts suppliers are
hopeless. I need filters and fitting/backing plates. As this is a
non-original fittment,on a S1XJ6, the space near the battery
requires the small cylinder type. I am sure K&N’s will be an
improvement over the foam Lynx type I have now.
About my ongoing diff gear replacement, I am getting there slowly,
or confused at a higher level. Re-cap: I wish to put 4.09 gears
into a 3.31PL diff. Sources have said a different ring gear carrier
is required to hold the 4.09 type ring. Some say ‘‘it won’t fit’’.
A lister referred me to Concours west who says it can be done -
gears and carrier $1,000!! I have sourced a 4.09 complete diff
from a S1 2.8 liter car. Can I use the gears and carrier in my
later type 3.31PL? Dana 44 gears are supposed to be the same, but
they are no cheaper. Is there an expert out there please? Could I
rebild the 4.09 from the S1 XJ6 and install the Powr-Loc clutches?
