The XJ-S Experience in a BOOK answers many questions about the engine,
including tips on how to do things. It is available online from
jag-lovers.org main page.

There is another book, the ROM, but I don’t have it or know where to get
it. There are also great parts books that I dont have, but that you may
be able to get. Since you are in Phoenix, you can probably get Mark at
Auto Britanica (34th Street and Thomas) to let you thumb through his
parts books (you might be able to track one down that way too)

I have been using the HAYNES JAGUAR XJ12 & XJS, 1972 THRU 1985 SERIES 1, 2
AND 3, 326 CU IN, 12 CYLINDER Manual (#478). It is frustrating, incomplete,
lacking detail, and seemingly put together poorly as was some of Jags
products, when they (Coventry) lost interest in quality and pride in
workmanship before Ford bought them! Understand, I am in love with my 76
XJ12L Kitty, so that is why I speak so highly about it! Ha-ha!

IS THERE A BETTER MANUAL ANYWHERE?

There certainly is - it’s the official Jaguar workshop manual - you can
get it from Amazon, your local jaguar dealer or a good motorbookshop.
Known as Repair Operations Manual (ROM) for S1/2 XJ12. Note the name of
the Series 3 (XJ6 and 12)manual changed to Service something manual.

This mail is a natural product. The slight variations in spelling and
grammar enhance its individual character and beauty and in no way are to
be considered flaws or defects.

The XJ-S Factory ROM is very nice – much more detailed than the Haynes.
Mine has the label AKM 3455 Ed 4 It covers mostly the early XJ-S cars, but
does have a lengthy HE supplement.
There have been some recent E-mails about factory ROM’s available for about
$100.> -----Original Message-----
