[xj] My new job Rebuilt Head

“JagMan Rani” <@Da_Lebanese_Polack>

Well, i just got my oil changed today for the first time since i owned the
car. Runs smoother now, i decided to change it because 1. I was running low
on oil, 2. I didn’t know what the PO had in it before therefore i didn’t
want to add anything. I also played grease monkey on my own car, it was
fun. And man my car is soooo clean underneath i should take pictures and
post them.

Anyways i have talked to my mechanic about me getting a job working at his
garage a few months ago. Right now it’s a one man operation and with me it
will be two. SO my job come this summer is to rebuild a few cylinder heads
which will be good experience come my time to rebuild anything. and the
recent more urgent job is to reasemble an XJS for someone. It was just
repainted so it looks great however i have ONE argument about this car, not
the car but it’s stuborn and gosh darnit rude owner.

Me and my mechanic were looking it over and all that, i wanted to pop the
hood and after i reached in to get to the release the owner who just came by
to visit yells (hey don’t touch my car) that pissed me off for a bit and
little does he know that i am going to reasemble it for him. Therefore ill
leave him a little note and place it inside telling him it was me that
rebuilt his car and i would kindly appreaciate it if you would take back
that remark. Basically confront him politely, pointing out his rudeness.

Off to me writing 5 english essays due friday. it’s what happens when you
get a car and start procrastonating.

Rani,

When I was a young mechanic, I was assigned the task of repairing a
broken spitfire seat. Turned out to need disassembly and rewelding of
the frame, which I did. While I was reassembling everything, the owner
came in and loudly asked “What’s that kid doing with my car?” and “does
he know what he’s doing?”

At that point my careful assemble reversed into a careful disassembly…
I thought that’s what would make him happy since I must have been doing
everything wrong!.
The shop owner escorted him out and sent me to get some parts…in his
lotus Europa. Jim W.

Don’t think anything about it…He will probably blame you for every little thing
that goes wrong with it later anyway…I was cleaning my dad’s Offy parts when I was 7
years old…You are starting into a wonderful job and with the right circmstances you
too could be famous like Jeb, Doug & The Doctor ( not Who )…8-)…

Rani,
With all due respect to you… I wouldn’t leave any notes in that
customer’s car. There will ALWAYS be some rude people out there and it’s
doubtful that you’ll be able to restructure any personalities. Some people
are just a little fussy and this fellow sounds like one of them. Better get
accustomed to it now or forget about a career in auto repair----

I’m not suggesting that anyone has to tolerate out-and-out abuse from anyone
else but if you’re gonna be in the customer service business you’ll have to
learn to let an awful lot of stuff “roll of your back” or you’ll go nuts in
no time flat.

Take it from me…22 year veteran of auto repair business.
