Body shop guy asked me what the 3 2 1/4’’ chrome ‘tabs’
across the top of the windshield ss trim surround ['77 S2]
were for, as he’d never seen them and they’re not ubiquitous.
Can only guess, myself.
Can someone pls provide the answer ?
also any input if they need special handling on removal/replacement ?
Thanks muchly.

On the Series II cars sent to Canada and the US these additional
security tabs were fitted; they are on all the Series II cars for these
markets.
I have not had to remove a Series II screen so I can’t provide the
answer about handling them.

Hello all;
I never did find the VDP seats [front or back] very
comfortable. I found myself feeling like I was sitting
in a ‘bucket’. My backseat passengers could never seem
to find a ‘comfort zone’ either. I went to an
upholsterer and he did add padding which helped…a
bit-but not enough. I tried sitting in another VDP
and I had the same uncomfortable results. While they
are very pretty to look at,I find the design of the
VDP seat not very comfortable. I then found an
excellent set of Biscuit colored XJ6 front and rear
seats on www.craigslist.org [no affiliation] and for
$400 bucks I found total comfort for me and my
passengers. If you are not in the ‘comfort zone’
either…give that a try.
Regards,

Have you been retaining glass again Doug?!
:]
The tabs did get put on to hold things together per some spec in a crash. I
removed the side ones and caulked their holes. The center one needs something
to cover the hole in the chrome trim, so I just took the nicest of the small,
rectangular chrome pieces and used that by itself (no reinforcing clip
beneath) – see 2nd & 4th pics…
By the way, the bay window is done now, but the house painting is still
competing with the Jags for time.–
