[xj] Quick fix 2nd time!

Hello.
I,m a northern Abertan and need the climate control to work!
I looked carefully at the ‘‘Experience in a Book’’ download and found
a reference to a quick fix that works to bypass the failed computer.
(Quite a bit of smoke!)
I did as was recommended and operated the selector cams with with a
window switch connected directly to the motor drive of the
selector. Watch out!. This bypasses valuable limit switches. The
Haines manual helps out to find the right place to connect (If you
have 20/20 vision)and have the limit switches in there. Failure to
do this will demonstrate how much torque 4000:1 reduction gives
when the unit comes up against stuff its not supposed to!
I apologise to the purists but the fix works. The rear door locking
position on the skislope is the imposter switch for the
higher/lower temp. The fresh air without A/C is handle by putting
the compressor on the extra inside light switch on the dash.
Hope this avoids twisted metal. I might be wet behind the ears and
this has been covered in the archives. So be it!

Dave:
I am more than a little confused by your note. First, your climate
control in the 82 xj6 is not computer controlled, so what exactly are you
by-passing, and why? Is it the AC amplifier? And getting fresh air into the
car without the compressor is a very simple procedure (20 minutes, $2), and
it does not require sacrificing any of the window switches. Can you
elaborate a bit of what your problem was?
