[xj] Re: Brake fluid reservoir

On the weekend I finally got the rebuilt final drive back into the car.
Only took two years. A long time ago I replaced the master cylinder and
I noticed that on the Brake fluid reservoir that it had only one rubber
grommet. Before I hook up the Brake lines I need to know if there should
be two grommets. As this is an 82 XJ12 my Haynes manual does not show
this very well. Next up the tear down of the V12

Thanks in advance

There should be two. Not sold separately, but they’re part of Jaguar
seals kit AAU6838 - the master cylinder rebuild kit.

In case you want to try… I used two O-rings of good material around the
bases of the two spigots on the reservoir of our 86 and it’s working just
fine. You’ll need to shim up with additional neoprene washers, if the pins
slide easily into the master – you should have it so you need a few pounds of
pressure down onto the reservoir in order to get the pins to slide through.–
