[xj] RE: DVM with PC

Richard:

I own a Protek 506 adn can honestly say that while it is a fine DVM–I
especially like the capacitance/inductance measuring feature–the RS232 out
is of little use. Unless, that is, you are looking for an exteremely long
transient. The sample rate is just too slow for it to work as a simple
o-scope. There are special meters by Fluke better suited for the garage,
though they are $$$.

My solution was to get a used 20MHz dual band o-scope for about $100.00 and
use my old Beckman DVM in the shop. Often, universities with Engineering
schools will have a house cleaning and you cand find this stuff cheap.

Good luck,
