[xj] re: oem pinstripe (coach lining)

Hi Emanuel,

I dunno is flavour of the month :frowning:

Thorley says it could be either Gold, Charcoal or Black, usually in a
contrasting colour. The Series III parts book says the double coach line
tape was available in gold leaf, oyster, gunmetal, black dark red or
gold/copper.

Take your pick!

Cheers,

nice…

Kinda understated and elegant.

My ‘version’ (description) of oyster is to say it looks rather like a white
Mother of Pearl with some ‘creamy’ off-white blended through out. (But then,
I haven’t seen an actual oyster in quite a while! It may be my ‘terrible’
memory at work again! Grin)

I believe it would be ‘interesting’ to see at the very least. I tend to
think it would mostly blend with the silver unless the sun caught it a
certain way or at night a light from either a passing street light or set of
headlights catch it.

I think it would look as Jeb stated, “kinda understated and elegant” during
most of the time and then perhaps “rich and flirtatious” when that light
hits it! (grin). I feel it would ‘indeed’ be very interesting to
experience.

It’s really too bad my car isn’t silver, I might be tempted to try it out.

Eman, Charlie, Jamie et al…

My 87 XJ6 VdP is also MDJ (silver birch metallic) and I must say, it does
NOT look silver. I know the PO had new paint done on the doors to fix dings
etc, but the majority of the car is original paint.

SWMBO calls the car (which she drives most often, dang) “gold”.

I have the copper/gold stripes, and it looks nice.

No, it really doesn’t. My '87 VDP with MDJ used to look different depending
on where it was parked. Sometimes golden, sometimes champagne but I never
thought it looked silver. It really is a beautiful color, though, and, in
the U.S., only offered on the '87 Vanden Plas.
