[xj] RE: On life in Spain... and other things!

OK, dear Listers: Just THREE THINGS.

  1. Does anyone know THE ACTUAL THICKNESS OF THE TWIN
AUXILIARY FANS that go between the bonnet/hood grille
and the A/C condenser? HEIGHT and WIDTH would also be
of help [my condenser is 62.5cm (24.6in)x 39.5cm
    (15.6in)]…

I’m thinking of having them installed after
experiencing overheating problems over the summer
months, but have realized that I dispose of only 3cm
(1.18in) of space at best between the hood and the
condenser with the lid open.—

Also, MY DRIVER’S SIDE FRONT WINDOW WON’T COME UP!!
This is esp. bad, because it’s the one I use all the
time -to pay highway tolls, to ask for directions, to
get my ticket in parking garages…- all others work
correctly (Murphy, Murphy, Murphy… is that YOU
again?!).

So, when disassembling the large, ugly black plastic
toggle switch I find nothing wrong with it -ALL six
spade connectors on the switch’s back are perfectly
clean and rust-free. There are only FOUR PIECES to it:
the switch itself, the switch body, a spring, and the
spring-loaded ‘pinky’ plastic piece where a metal
‘roller’ is housed.

  1. Can I clean ALL THESE in soapy water? Is dish
detergent OK? I noticed the switch isn’t symmetrical
on the inside. 3. What side does the ‘less round’
side of the switch go in? I realized when it was too
late and the darn thing was out before I could take
    note…

Thanks all,
