<< Hello fellow holiday weekend listers,
Is there anyone out there that can tell me if a steering wheel from a 1988
XJ will fit on a '77 XJ. I have tried the interchange area of the site to
no avail. I am looking for a factory appearance with improved grip.
Thanks in advance.

Dan,
Regarding the steering column; Jaguar changed from a course to a fine spline
arrangement in 1973/4 which ran up into the early 1990’s (when the went back
to the previous spline for some reason), so yes, it (XJ40 wheel?) should fit
on your car.
A lot of people prefer to use the 1989 XJS (and late S3 V12) “sport” steering
wheel for it’s better looks and thicker rim.

Dan: If you mean the wheel from an xj40, the answer is no. (the 88 Series
III still used the familiar wheel). I recommend, heartily, the wheel from an
89 XJS. This wheel was fitted to the later years of the Series III (91 and
92) cars. Thicker, better formed, and altogether more attractive; it
transforms the feel of the car. And yes, it fits the Series II with no
modification.

Thanks Alex, Stephen and Dr. Greg for the advise on the steering wheel
interchange for my Series II. I am hot on the trail of a couple of wheels.
