Yes Elm was used on the XJS throughout much of the 80’s… It is quite a
difficult veneer to work with, and I still have’nt figured out exactly why
they used it (probably offered several flitches - cheap!).
Also, the earlier 84/85 S3 XJ6 models can easily be fitted with console wood
- just a matter of also obtaining the seperate 86/87 window switch piece.
