85 XJ-s with spark, fuel pressure, new computer, still won’t
go. I have had it fire on starting fluid, but as soon as
that’s run it won’t fire. Any ideas will be appreciated.–

Check to see if the injectors are working. I hear a mechanics
stethoscope works well.–

Har! At least you didn’t include a comment about hearing the injector PULSE.

Check the coolant temp sensor. The starting fluid has demonstrated that
your ignition is operational, so it’s obviously a fuel delivery problem,
and the coolant temp sensor seems to be the bugger that causes this most often.
Front of B bank (find the air temp sensor on the B bank air cleaner horn,
then look down on the head on that side, very near the thermostat
housing). Check it for an open condition ( = infinite resistance =
failed). You can temporarily bypass it with an appropriate-valued resistor
crammed into the harness connector.
On my website, I describe the construction of a simple switch gizmo to keep
in your toolkit (the one IN the car) to have available should this
component fail on you while you’re on the road.
