[xj-s] 1986 XJS-C advice needed

Hi,
I am replacing top on my 1986 XJS-C. I ordered it through
one of respected ebay convertible top sellers.

The top consists of 4 pieces:

2 x targa skins
1 x surrounding material
1 x back part with vinyl window

Here is the problem. I ordered it in brown. I got the back
part with vinyl window in brown with soft cloth canvas on
the ‘‘outside’’, but the surrounding material and 2 targa
skins came as thin underliner-like material (they called it
‘‘dobby’’ as I found already). targa skins and surrounding
material look like they miss brown canvas on top (soft
cloth), not to mention that the colour is black-ish.
The salesman wrote to me something like that:

‘‘WC & TP are needed for complete restoration, total time for
installation is 14 hours.
WC is complete top with inside attached headliner, top is
made with side cable
guides & handrolled as original. TP is complete surround
panel section, plus T-Top
section covers. The TP option needs to use Rubberized facing
material only.’’

The top that I have right now is unified on all cabrio
elements( back part, targa panels and surronding material) -
ITS ALL BROWN, soft cloth on the ‘‘visible’’ side : ) He
stipulates that targa panels and surrounding material should
have different type of material (and colour!) when compared
to back, window part. Someone is pulling my leg here ?

here is what I have got in the package - its clear that
apart from the window part, its all black (and what cannot
be seen on the picture, its different, thin material).

I hope someone can shed a light on this! Im puzzled

Kind Regards,

Ahhh case closed - finally!
middle man (salesman) got confused : ) obviously, it was
manufacturers mistake. I have to wait another 2 days in
order to get all the pieces.

975$ with shipping is reasonable from what is saw on the
market - its only EZON that makes this top at the moment.

Bart,

if it’s not too much trouble, can you take pics along the
way to show the steps to replace the top material, and then
email them to me (or link to imageshack)?

I think due to all my cost over runs in getting my '88 XJ-SC
running well and painted, when I have my interior leather
done, I may get the top material dyed for now (black) but
replacement is on the wish list for 2012.

Thanks!–
