[xj-s] 1988 XJS drivers side injectors not firing

I have a 1988 XJS with a Lucas distributor. When I started
my car I would only get exhaust out of the passengers side.
When I checked the injectors the passengers side was
clicking normally. The drivers side was making a low hmmm.
So I checked the wiring it had all good continuity through
them. Then I check the signal through the wires when my car
was running and the passenger side gets 4volts and the
drivers side wiring to the injectors only gets 0.5volts. so
I assume my ECU is bad. Is there anyway to fix my ECU? Or
where to get a new ECU?

Also when my car my fuel pump was not getting 12volts so I
had to splice a brown wire so the fuel pump would work. If
anyone know a common failure with the fuel pump.

And I’m looking for a neutral switch for my 1988 Jaguar XJS
because it won’t start unless I ground the start relay.

any help would be very much appreciated–

What do you mean you got no exhaust from one side? No flow
at all or just that it was cold? You should get flow of gas
no matter what.

You could have a short within the injection loom that is
dragging the voltage down on that side of the engine. Try
unplugging the multiplug in the RH corner of the engine bay,
then check the voltages at the pins while turning the engine
over on the starter.–

One possibility for a new ECU would be the enhanced one from
AJ6 engineering. I haven’t tried it but would consider it if
mine failed for some reason.–

i have the super enhanced from aj6 eng worked great out of the box
and apart from having to get up early to talk to them it was a
great exp those chaps know there stuff. hopfull & probably you dont
need one but if you do thats the way to go I paid 500$ us for a
used one that didnt fix my problem turned out to be in the eng
harness ck as mark mentioned. if it needs the harness [ do not want
to do yourself] I believe the driven man sells one much beter than
orig good luck
nick
btw the se ecu from aj6 has the prom plug changed so reprograming
is just a chip swap from there just in case you ever go 6.0L or
other perf mods–
