First, thank you for all of the replies to my original query regarding the
prospective purchase ('89 conv, 30K miles). All responses were greatly
appreciated.
Recap of original terms: Price - $14,000. Seller has an import service
shop do all repairs, as determined through a check inspection by a local Jag
dealer. Following repairs, I can take it back to the Jag dealer for
assessment of repair quality.
Since then, I’ve spoken to the import mechanic and, given his responses, he
seems knowledgeable. (I also stopped by the shop and saw various other Jags
in his bays.) Most importantly, he stated he will warranty the repairs for 3
mo/3K mi.
At supposed “dealer cost” to me, seller has also agreed to include 2
year/24K mi Easy-Care Total Care Service Contract. (Jag dealer service
dept stated that they accept this company) Both parties agreed deal to be
consumated upon my acceptance of completed repairs.
The auto has been at the import service shop for the past week with
anticipated completion by end of this coming week.
Personal note: No offense meant to non-dealer mechanics by any of the above.
It’s just that I shall be a first time Jag owner and felt a Jag dealer to be
a good base source for information and assessment. I am sure I will discover
many other highly qualified import mechanics in the area.
