[xj-s] 90 He 12 skip on left side

Compression good, not the answer, Ken. I took it up to 4500
rpm in 2nd. Would not stay in first and I ran out of
highway. I drove 20 miles. Max speed 90 before traffic
forced slow down. Speedometer intermittent around 60-70.
Thanks. Hopefully, someone else has an idea.
V12 90 XJ-S convertible skipping badly on left side. New
rotor, cap, wires, plugs. Exchanged the amplifiers and
coils. Does anyone have any suggestions before I pull the
injectors and rail? Injectors are clicking.
Thanks, Harry, Charlotte NC.–

There is a slight chance of a vacuum leak. I would
investigate all the usual places and then some. The intake
manifold nuts sometimes loosen so check them as well.–

My recollection is a vacuum leak will cause a high idle ?? Could
be a bad new plug, or not checked for correct gap before install,
or arching new plug wiring. Cheap plug wires are just that…cheap.

That’s not correct!
Expensive plug wires are also - cheap.
As I found out on a set of original jaguar classic parts-
sourced plug leads EVERY single one was hanging by a
thread underneath a boot on the distributor end!!
So the first thing everyone who is reading this post
should do is pull back those boots and check all plug
wires for integrity.
I’m even toying witg the idea of buying a crimping tool
and doing my own plug leads, that’s how dissapointed I am
in all of them.
Also thinking of pouring my own rubber bushes in the
future as this ebay sourced crap just disintegrates after
a year or so.–
