[xj-s] Adding seat warmers to 95 XJS

Hello guys,

Has anyone added seat-warmers to their XJS that came without?

I am going to be buying new seat covers prety soon, and since I
have the heater deliberately disabled (flaps possitioned to go thru
evaporator ONLY), and because hot air does not let me breathe
anyway, I was thinking that I would be a nice thing to have.

Ideally I would like to buy the correct switches, relay and heater
coils and just plug and play, but I do not know if the car is
prewired for this or not…

Thanks!!–

What kind of budget are you on? You might wanna check price (and
availability) of the heating elements, switches, and control units from
Jaguar.

One way to save money, if inclined, is to use aftermarket heating elements.
When my heaters failed (on both my XJS and XJR) I used aftermarket elements
but kept the original control systems, saving $300-$400. It’s just a matter
of buying an aftermarket seat heater kit, using the heaters, and discarding
the rest.

Not sure if your car is prewired for heaters or not.

It may not be as simple as ‘‘plug and play’’. The seat heaters draw
lots of power, so each seat has a 10A designated fuse in the fuse
block (at least mine does). Cars not manufactured with certain
options may not be pre-wired from the fuse block. My first
suggestion is to find your fuse block and check to see if it has
the prongs that accept the fuse. If the space is blank with
nothing that would accept a fuse, you’ll need to get the wiring
harness for seat heaters and hook those up to the fuse block
first. Then, you’ll need to run the wiring to the switch locations
and to the seats. You should find the wiring diagram for the seat
heaters and see what all is involved in the wiring.–
