Car is now at the shop for two weeks while they hunt this
issue down. There something causing the fuel injector to
not inject.
It’s not an issue with the injector, something is telling
it to not inject fuel.
I handed them a spare ECU I kept from my old car hoping it
could be a quick fix.
Apparently they are telling me that the diagnostic
computers have ruled out the CPS. I know they have a
functioning PDU, not sure how they can tell, but I guess
that’s why I took it to the shop.
Just wished I had tried swapping out ECUs before I took it
over there…–

Veekay,
Sorry to hear you’ve still got probs. My limited
understanding of our cars makes me believe thst there
aren’t any discrete components ehich can affect the
fuelling of one cylinder only. I might be wrong but the
lambda sensors are surely impacting fuel trim on 3
cylinders each. And the knock sensors and crank sensor are
affecting ignition timing for a cylinder.
So my rather naive guess would be only the ecu output or
wiring that can do it.

Thank you for your response. That lines up with what the
shop is telling me.
They are convinced it’s a wiring issue, and are going step
by step to find the fault.
I hope they try the spare ECU before they invest too much
more time, just in case it is the easy fix.
It is comforting to know that there really isn’t another
cause out there.–

I agree with the ecu being most likely the issue. Hard to
believe a wire just stops conducting? I am sure they are
checking were the wire comes close to hot surfaces or pinch
points.
I would also suggest checking all connectors/connections of
the suspect wire. I had a Nissan truck with an acceleration
issue, first intermittent then finally no go at all when
pushing the gas pedal. All along the truck started and
idled fine. The connector to the IACV was corroded pretty
bad, green and white stuff covering the pins. A thorough
cleaning showed the pins to be OK, ran perfect after that.
That was a satisfying find, missed by the dealer and an
independent mechanic.–

I was told lazy oxygen sensors.
Seems a bit strange that it ended up being the oxygen
sensors…I think it took the mechanic 2 weeks to get to
the car…–
