[xj-s] AJ6 3.6 transplant into body of HE XJS?

Just curious about what be involved in the transplant? Would the
wiring have to be changed in order to suit the wiring loom of the
engine and ECU? what kinds of modifications would be required to
fit the engine in the engine bay? can the J-Gate auto trans that
usually goes hand in hand with the AJ6 be easily installed into the
XJS?

any and all help is greatly appreciated :)–

Just curious about what be involved in the transplant?

since this is one “conversion” that Jaguar themselves did from 1983
on all parts have already been designed and built. I guess you’d need
a 3.6 bonnet; radiator, engine/tranny mountings, propshaft, PS hoses,
exhaust and springs. Those are the essentials: a host of small bits
'n bobs. make it a neat and tidy job but could be worked around with
what you have and lots of time.
The wiring is easy: forget about the old one (save for the wires to
the gauges) and just use the one from your new engine and hide the
ECU in the dash somewhere. Both engines use fuel return so no worries
there either.
I did two AJ6 conversions on XJ cars (which to all intends and
purposes isn’t much different from what you’re planning): please

interested.
