[xj-s] Brake System?

Hello All; I am reading the archives and other data
on XJS brake system. However I can’t seem to find
any comment on HOW the master cylinder should behave
with the Teves ABS and Hydraulic accumulator OTS [Out
of Service].

Should there be “pedal” ? should the car stop ?
Should pedal be very hard [without power assist] ?

Appreciate some comments from those who have been
there and done that.

Thanks-a-million

Having experienced my car without the ABS pump working I can
tell you that there isa gradual loss in hydraulic pressure
until the stage is reached when the pedal drops right down
to the floor and feels hard. At this stage braking is very
ineffective!–

You can disable the abs system but you cannot disable the
accumulator or you will have no brakes at all. You accumulator is
where your power assist comes from. Driving without will feel like
old standard brakes or worse and is not the plan if you need to
whoa that puppy in a hurry!–
