[xj-s] Car Transporters

I’m getting my 91 XJ-S conv. open truck transported (new car type
truck carrier) to Florida from Pennsylvania. Did anyone ever do
this, & what precautions/preparation should I take ? Like removing
the front spoiler, etc. because of clearances.
The reason I chose the open trailer is a $500 difference from
the enclosed one & the Co. has a ‘‘5 star’’ rate ???.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Had my 95 shipped from Houston to N.C. I was told it was wise to
use the top rack to prevent any fluid from the other cars above you
from getting on your convertible top. Mine made it safely to my
destination without any problems, but shipping it on the middle
could prevent any hail damage if it went through a hail storm. Pros
and cons for both areas.–

Larry,

My XJ-S came to South Florida in 2000 from Houston, TX on an open truck. It survived the trip just fine. I took no special precautions.
