Chris,

I recommend that you post a picture of the metal plate, otherwise we
won’t be able to help. Look at the “Photo Album” portion of the Jag-Lovers
website for details of how to post pictures. Just follow the instructions.
I have successfully posted hundreds of pictures on Jag-Lovers over the past
15 years or so without any problems. The main thing to know is that the
size of your pictures must be 200KB or less (yes 200 KB), otherwise the
upload will fail.

Does the light bulb in the fiber optic unit illuminate? It’s located
inside the center console near the shifter. Sometimes people break the
fiber optic strands or fail to reconnect them when working inside the
console. It is possible that the light bulb is working but the fiber optic
strands are broken or have been disconnected/removed.

The Fiber Optic Illumination power comes from the left terminal post,
through the main lighting switch, then to the #7 (10A) fuse, through the
lighting rheostat to the bulb. So if you have the headlights switch turned
on, a good #7 fuse, and the lighting rheostat turned up, you should see a
good bulb light up inside the fiber optic cell. If that bulb lights up, but
none of the items that are supposed to be illuminated by the fiber optic
strands are, then you need to be looking for missing, broken or disconnected
fiber optic strands.
