I’m getting a clicking sound from somewhere around the passenger
area when I press the brake pedal. Any ideas what might be causing
this? (1989 coupe)–

Most likely the ABS brake pump relay. If you get in the car and turn
the blower & radio off, and fasten your seatbelt, so there are no other
sounds, and turn the key to the run position (but don’t start the
engine) you will hear the brake boost pump run (if you listen closely)
at the right firewall. It may run up to ~ 40 seconds, depending upon
how long the engine has been shutdown.
When the pump has developed proper pressure, you will then hear a click
from the pump relay, located beneath the glovebox on the auxiliary
relay panel, shutting off the pump. If you then depress the brake pedal
3 - 5 times, you will hear that click again as the pump is started, and
then another click about 5 seconds later as the pump is shut off.
If the pump relay clicks, and the pump runs with just one single
application of the brake pedal, your accumulator is failing.

There is a relay in the ski slope console just forward of the shift
lever that has something to do with the brake light circuit.
Depending if you are in Park or Neutral, or in gear, it makes a
pretty loud click, and is normal for it to do so. The ABS click
referred to is in the engine compartment, and it is easy to tell if
it is ‘‘that’’ click, or the one in the console.–
