[xj-s] coolent smell

This AM on my drive to work, a country four lane; I cruse at 80 and
due to a ‘‘left lane bandet’’ had to push it up to 100 for about 2
miles. The car ran fine(as always)but I noted a scent of coolent in
the car, when I slowed back down to 80 the smell went away. Should
I do some thing here, temp stayed below N. Are hoses in the dash?

Dan,
At 100 mph you were getting increased air flow and possibly
creating a slight vacuum in the cabin and drawing what might be
normal engine compartment odors in the cockpit. I am not familiar
with the 94 but if you have the overflow tank near the drivers left
knee behind the left front wheel it might be worth checking to see
if all is well with the plumbing there. My 89 was crimped off like
Kirby mentioned in his book. The hose leaked at the top of the tank
and allowed any overflow to just seap down the side of the
compartment and eventialy on to the ground throught the body seams.–
