[xj-s] Dome light over rearview mirror

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Let start by saying thank you for your constant help. I’m learning
and obtaining the books/CD/etc. but I never seem to have the
correct diagram/picture.

I am replacing the headliner in my 19990 XJS Coupe. The front dome
light has a number of parts: The light fixture, a black metal
bezel, fabric trim bezel, reflector, etc.

Does anyone have a diagram of how this stuff fits together/is
installed?

Many thanks.

Hi Walt:

On the 85 & 89 coupes, to remove the dome light from the headliner board, simply pry the entire assembly out by placing a flat blade, such as a putty knife, behind the bezel, and disconnect the wiring connectors. I have not disassembled it further, and the Parts Catalogue doesn’t show further disassembly.

BTW, what did you find on your ignition problem (your prior post – “Low Power”)?

Dragged out this old post to add light removal details.
In my '89 RHD Coupe, i inserted a spudger under the LEFT end of the chrome bezel. The Right end has the electrical connections protruding so will not clear the headlining until bezel is slid to the left.
