[xj-s] Engine oil cooler

The engine oil cooler on my '92 XJS 4.0 coupe is leaking, and I have sourced a cooler
stripped from an XJ40 which appears similar. Will it be suitable, however?

It’ll probably fit since they’ve been using that one from XJ Ser III
(albeit with different P/N’s). However undoing the unions could be a
nightmare (think stripped threads and all that). I’m actually
surprised yours has an oil cooler at all: lots of Euro spec 6 cyl
XJ-S’ had the bypass fitted (which btw is what I recommend you do as
well: only about 20 quid from your local friendly scrappy; much
easier to fit; never leaks and the climate isn’t changeing so fast
that you actually need that cooler in the UK anyway;)

Ed,

I can’t answer your question but I’m interested because a friend (not
on this list)
recently told me it could be safely be removed. I’m and NOT advising
that you do
this, but merely tagging onto your thread to get some discussion.
