[xj-s] Fly Wheel Removal

Alright, 86 XJS I gotta ask. How do you get the fly
wheel off. Torque Converter is off and all ten bolts
holding the fly wheel are off. Seems like the two
smaller screw holes are pressed in. Do they need to be
squeezed out with a steering wheel puller or some
such? Or, have I completely missed the boat. There are
two 9/16 nuts up behind the damm thing. I feel silly,
I should be able to get it off. What am I missing?

Those are the dowels. The threaded holes through the center are to
enable you to pull them. Thread a stud into the hole, then slip a
socket over the stud so that the stud protrudes out the top and the
socket surrounds the dowel. Screw a nut onto the stud with a washer
behind it, and then tighten the nut so it pulls the dowel out.
Repeat for the other dowel. Once the dowels are out, it shouldn’t be
too difficult to get the flywheel off.

Dowels huh! Okay, the dowels are outta here. So, I was
on the right track. The socket and, bolt combination
are being used as a puller. I was trying to use my
streeing wheel puller. Problem is, I was only able to
come up with one bolt. Lop sided pullers don’t work
(ha). Thanks Kirb
