[xj-s] ? H.E. & Classic Collection?

I am new to the Jag interest. I own 86 XJ6 Van.Pls. Looking
at 85 XJS H.E. Manf 06/84 date. What does the H.E. mean
stamped to the Rt.Rear back panel represent?? Also looking
at 91 XJS Classic Collection. What makes this a classic
collection. All help will be greatly appreciated. Really
looking for this style and the what the difference in style
could mean and represent, this will aid the the purchase
process.–

pre-1989 V12 5.3L HE Lucas CEI cars are simpler…post-1989 V12
6.0L HE Marelli equipped cars are more technically complex–

you are interested in this style , ill assume you mean pre
facelift or pre US model year '92 cars. 1991 cars are often
referred to as facelift in england. approx. serial # 179000
starts the facelift.–

Hi Cardogs,
FWIW, my US coupe is serial #179003 and it’s a US '91 model year with chrome
bumbers and cathedral tail lights, pre-facelift “Classic” model (contrasting
piping trim on the seats, leather shift knob), lattice wheels.

The JDHT CD for the Facelift models suggests that the Facelift VIN
began at 179737.

I’ve got 85 H.E. - they have more fuel efficiency & horsepower than
the none H.E versions. You can get a speacial H.E. section for the
repair manual.–
