[xj-s] Help Please, 92 xjs Distributor, Plug 1A location?

92 xjs. Marelli ignition. I must have an incorrect after market
distributor cap on my car the firing order marked on the top of the
cap does not correspond to the firing order in the manual. The
manual says 1a-6b-5a-2b-3a-4b-6a-1b-2a-5b-4a-3b. Is this the
correct firing order? Can you please tell me using a clock face
with 12 at front of the engine where 1a would be positioned on the
cap using the clock face. Also am I correct that the front coil is
coil A and the right bank and number 1 cylinder is the front plug
on the right bank. Thank you for your response. 140too.–

You are probably thinking that the firing order is also the order
going around the cap. On a Marelli, it is not. The rotor is 2-level
and double-ended, so the firing order bounces back and forth across
the cap. After 1A fires, the next fire will be 6B which will be on
the opposite side of the cap plus 30 degrees (one terminal over).

The right bank, as viewed from sitting in the driver’s seat, is the A
bank, and cyl 1A is at the front. Other than that, some Marelli
owner is gonna hafta tell you the alignment of the 1A terminal.
