Any listers know what part number replaces the high side
AC fitting? The ball depressor is leaking. I have all
the necessary tools to leak search, evacuate, and recharge
the system. The valve has 8 flats, about 3/4 inch long.
Aluminum. Black cap. No schreader valve, looks like a
ball depressor down inside is what’s leaking. It looks
like an eight sided socket is needed to remove.
Thanks much

I know you can get a new one at Oreillys. Don’t tell them
it’s for a Jag or they’ll swear they don’t have it, but
they do. It’s a standard item.–

You shouldn’t care. In any well-designed system, such valves would
never be the primary seal during operation; they should only be
relied upon during servicing.
There’s probably a chincey plastic cap that screws onto that fitting.
Replace that cap with a short bolt with the same thread. Under the
head of the bolt, install a flat washer with an ID 1/8" larger than
the bolt shank with a 1/16" O-ring within it. As you tighten the
bolt, it’ll compress against the O-ring, and the O-ring will be held
in place by the washer. The washer will also prevent you from
crushing the O-ring. Presto, no more leaking, whether the little
ball valve thingy leaks or not.

That’s an interesting fix. Now why didn’t I think of that?
Kirbert, your a genius! Anyone else stopped leakage using
the bolt method? What thread size? SAE or metric?–
