[xj-s] Horn Short

MY 1986 has a horn that has started sounding at random. Before I go
pojing around does any one know any common spots for shorts?

Thanks

Peter,

I’ve never had the problem so can’t answer your question. However,
the problem is not uncommon judging from the several reports here
over the years. If someone doesn’t come up with the answer for you
do a search of the XJ-S Archives.

Well, that SHOULD work but it didn’t for me just now. Archives
doesn’t seem to be working. Comes up with “no matching records”
for anything I search for. I expect it will be fixed shortly.

Thanks, I searched and it seams the most common failure is in the
pad, Now I have a starting point.

And the horn always gets stuck as you are driving right behind a
group of Hells Angels on a dark side street,Right?Try to screw the
horn pad of.There are two screws on the back side of it.Then press
the horn contact adjuster down a little bit and reassemble.Test the
horn is working before screwing it back together ,by laying the pad
back on the wheel. You might have to try a few times before
adjustment is correct. This cured my ‘‘short’’.
Good luck.
