Could it be a simple as popping the hood latch when you shut down on a hot
day? I’m going to do that from now on, there’s no risk in doing it. Hell, I
just might leave the hood latch open from now until August. Better than a
dropped valve seat.

I do this occasionally, but am not convinced that it accomplishes anything
along the lines of increasing engine life or valve seat retention. It can
help keep plastic and rubber pieces soft, though.

I’ve been doing that ever since i read about the “after shutdown heat”
on this list, i leave it opened until the next ride. Simple, hope it
helps.
