OK, I’ll bite. I was afraid and those ‘‘in the know’’ convinced me
all would be well. Mine is an 89 with the TH400 tranny. I got on
an open empty strtch of highway, got her up to about 65 mph, then
simultaneously dropped her into second and floored it! OK, the
experience was very similar to the scenen in Star Wars (the
original one) when the Millenium Falcon went into hyper drive! It
was cool! Actually broke the tires free. I looked in the rearview
mirror, and boy was there a big brown cloud of crap. Did it a few
more times, no more brown crap clouds, and all is well. Car has
been running fine ever since I did this six months ago, and she’s a
daily driver. Really haven’t noticed any big performance
improvements, but she was running fine before. I just did it for
the ‘‘irresponsible fun’’ factor:)–
