[xj-s] Local Rebuilders (Toronto-area)for Rearend?

Good day all, I apologize in advance if I’m incorrectly
posting, however I am very tired.

Short story long (wink), I am near Toronto, Ontario, Canada
and have a complete XJ 2.88 rearend I obtained to
tear-down/rebuild as a project.

As a credit to Jag engineering and those experts out there,
I was able to tear-down most of the rear-end, however the
rebuild will prove too taxing for me.

I have the parts at Birkshire Motors (for months), and the
most I have gotten from them is directons to buy another
one, or that it will cost thousands to rebuild. Birkshire
is aware that I am not looking for a pristine restore, I
want a working rearend that will not require major
maintenance for quite awhile.

From the tear-down I myself realize this will cost some
money (e.g., disks, pads, shocks, etc.), however I believe
I’d rather build on what I know I have, than start with yet
another r/e purchase that I know nothing about.

Can anyone please recommend a (relatively) local jag
resource/shop that might be able to help me (say 100km
radius)? I understand Birkshire is a reputable shop,
however it has been six months and no movement.

Thank you and kindest regards,–
Nigel

Hi,

Back Street Heroes, located at 321 Smith Street,(Highway 6),Arthur.

I have a 1988 XJS, he removed engine, restored it. Removed rear
end and also restored it. And a lot more. His shop isn’t pretty,
but at any given time, he has 10 jags on the go. Outstanding and
thorough work.

Ian is his name at 1-519-848-2006. Mention my name.

Cheers,
Chris Hall–

Re-state what you are trying to do, as Rob says. Are you
looking to rebuild the diff, or the total IRS ? Have you
totally torn your IRS apart ? as in milk cartons ? It may be
cheaper to purchase another complete IRS and be a little
more systematic in the re & re–
