[xj-s] Low Coolant Control Unit

Hi,

I have a 1983 XJS V12 originally a UK car now in Victoria,
Australia. Can anyone advise me as to where to find the low coolant
control unit in the car please?

There is a lead onto a terminal in the engine side of the
header tank on the LHS inner wing. This is the light source.
It is a permanent earth and the earth stops if the coolant
is low, and it is wired to a relay that lights the light
when the current stops flowing.–

I don’t think it’s a relay. I think it’s a “control unit”, and
that’s what he’s asking about. I’ve never actually seen one; there
musta been one in my '83, but I never looked for it. My
understanding is that it’s a standard GM part.

The control unit is a black tube shaped unit on the back side of
the relays holder in the passenger foot well. You have to pull
down the under tray of the dash and you will see relays and fuses,
the black tube clipped to the back of that piece. It has a short
wiring harness with a white plug.–
